What is your teaching history?
I started out in 1995 as an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer and focused on women's issues i.e., pre-natal, post partum, peri menopause and general strength training. When I was introduced to the Pilates method in the mid 1998, I was hooked. I initially became certified through "The Physical Mind Institute" where they took an eclectic approach to the Pilates method. Wanting a more traditional and classical Pilates foundation, I did a second comprehensive certification with Power Pilates in NYC. I moved to New Jersey in 2000 where I opened a studio, introduced Pilates to the area and grew a successful business. I sold the business in November of 2009 and realizing I was an empty nester I packed my bags and headed for North Carolina!
 
What inspires you to teach pilates?
Joe Pilates' idea of moving the spine and strenghthening the core in order to heal the body was the inspiration that made me want to learn and teach his method. He was definitely a man ahead of his time! I love his quote, "you are only as old as your spine is flexible"
 
What other Fitness modalities do you use with your clients?
I utilize interval training techniques, ballet based barre work, sports specific, coordination and balance exercises.  I find that a variety of fitness routines and styles works best to meet my clients goals.  FItness balls, bands, foam rollers, weights, magic circles and more are all utilized to give clients the diversity thus the results they're looking for.
